India will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to organize the 2036 Olympics,” said PM Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed on Saturday that India would bid to host the 2036 Olympics. PM Modi made the announcement during the inauguration of the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) session at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai.

On Saturday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that his country would submit a proposal to host the 2036 Olympics. During the opening of the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) session at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai, PM Modi made the announcement.

India is quite eager to host the Olympics, he claimed. “India will try everything possible to host the Olympics in 2036. It is the goal of 140 billion Indians. We would like to realise our idea with the assistance of IOC. Sports are the finest method to win hearts as well as medals, which is why they are so popular. It fosters harmony in addition to producing champions.

India is also willing to host the Youth Olympics in 2029, PM Modi continued. In the presence of IOC President Thomas Bach, he declared, “We are willing to host the 2029 Youth Olympics. I am sure India will get constant support from IOC.”

After a break of approximately 40 years, India is hosting the IOC session for the second time. The 86th IOC session took place in 1983 in New Delhi.

The Indian PM was greeted with “aapka bahut-bahut swagat hai” (we welcome you) by IOC President Thomas Bach, who had begun his speech earlier in the evening by extending a “namaste” to the audience. He said that the nation has been growing economically and in sports as well.

India is a motivating country, according to Bach. The Indian Olympic community as a whole can be pleased with their performance at the Asian Games. In his speech, the IOC president emphasized the value of including e-sports in the Olympic schedule and the necessity of believing in and empowering young people.

Notably during a press conference on Friday, Bach had said that cricket will be added to the 2028 Olympics since it is getting more popular all over the world. Bach also added that the current Cricket World Cup is being held in India successfully.

Cricket is getting more popular all over the world and presently Cricket World Cup is being held in India successfully. So we look forward to cricket players participating in the 2028 Olympics. Indian-origin people play a lot of cricket and recently we organised a cricket tournament in Dallas too. Los Angeles had an opportunity for the same and they included it in the events,” said Bach.

PM Modi lauded the IOC’s decision and thanked them for including cricket, one of India’s most popular sports, in the Olympics.

“India can host significant international events. We are capable, organised, and have the necessary infrastructure to host the Olympics, he claimed.
